Spiegel im Spiegel is one of the best known and most performed works by Arvo Pärt, as well as one of his last compositions before his departure from Estonia. However, this seemingly simple piece requires maximum concentration and childlike sincerity from the performer, so that the sounds would bloom beautifully during the performance. This music has been used in many ballet and dance performances, as well as in various films and stage productions.

Both the composer and several performers have rearranged Spiegel im Spiegel for different ensembles.
